The Silvertip Black Turnback Shaving Brush is an essential key to achieving The Perfect Shave®. It generates a rich warm lather by retaining warm water to help soften the beard hair. Using a shaving brush to apply your shaving cream helps lift beard hair for a clean, close shave. A shaving brush also lightly exfoliates skin to help release trapped hairs.

  • Fine Badger Hair, featuring soft white tips
  • Brush head is handmade by an artisan
  • Has greater hair density than pure and fine shaving brushes
  • Black acrylic handle with The Art of Shaving brand logo

  • Generates a rich and warm lather by retaining warm water to help soften beard hair.
  • Application helps lifts the beard hair for a close shave.
  • Lightly exfoliates skin to help release trapped hairs.
  • Greater hair density per shaving brush means more warm water is retained by the badger hair. Also, more hairs create more movement and lift by the shaving brush.
  • Simple, black acrylic handle pairs well with most of The Art of Shaving razors. Will also fit in most razor stands* sold by The Art of Shaving.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Overall it's a very good brush I was a little worried when I first received the brush that it was too small. I mean, it looked like a lady's powder brush when I took it out the package. Once I let it soak in hot water before using it I was pleasantly surprised to note that it fluffed up nicely and performed just like my brush at home with a very good lather. One disappointment that was noted in another review was that it smelled funny. After I soaked the brush the first time I noticed a strong chemical smell. The smell mostly went away after the first use and has slowly diminished after each shave (used about 5 times# and only has a faint odor now. I should mention that this odor wasn't present in the brush I have for home use. The brush lost a few hairs initially but haven't lost any since. Hopefully it'll last me for a long time. As far as allowing it to dry in the brush down position #which should always be done!!!#, I accomplished this by drilling a small hole in the handle to slip in an "S" shaped hook made from an old wire hanger and hook that over the towel rod in my hotel bathroom. #Maybe something that TAOS can add to their manufacturing process). If you use it right before packing it up in your luggage, dry it off as much as possible, stick it in the tube to protect the bristles and ASAP when you get to your destination soak it in hot water, shake it off then let it dry naturally. If you let it sit in your travel kit wet for three days it's going to smell rotten and you will lose hairs. August 15, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Turnback Silvertip Badger Brush I bought this brush for travel and ended up making it my everyday brush! The brush produced excellent lather and the brush hairs were well-protected while traveling. The lather produced with this brush was better than my 14 year-old silvertip badger brush. I used the Turnback for five travel days and it lost 1 hair and since using if for everyday shaving it has not lost any hairs. I am very happy with this brush and only time will address the durability issue. I do recommend that one not use the brush on the day of travel if there is not sufficient time for the brush hairs to dry - wet animal hair always has an odor! July 20, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Well........ Purchased this brush for traveling. Brush does not dry in the rube. Best to leave it out to dry. After first use without brush fully drying it had this rank smell of horse urine. Rinsed and rinsed. Then left brush out to dry. Brush smell has improved, but rank smell is still there. UGH. Better buy a cheap regular brush for travel. March 13, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Black Turnback Silvertip Badger Brush This brush works well as long as it lasts. Salesman assured me that their silvertip badger brushes would last a "lifetime". I don't expect a lifetime of use out of a brush but I do expect longer than 6 months. This brush only lasted me 6 months before the hairs started falling out of the handle. I always dried it before putting it away, and took it out as soon as I would reach my hotel room, never let it dry on its base. the brush loses about 50 hairs per use now and has become very small. That comes down to about $3-4 per use. Not worth it. July 7, 2012
