Rated 5 out of 5 Moisturizes and pleasant scent!
This is a nice subtle lemon scent. Seemed to soften my hairs to prepare for the shave. There were no instructions, but a little bit really seams to go a long way.

I like how this oil moisturizes my skin and preps it for shaving. The scent is also great. My wife really likes it too. We agree that we may buy some of these for Christmas gifts. Most men would really like a product like this. It makes your skin very soft and this time of year you need something that won't dry out your skin.

I'll be honest and I was a little bit weary about whether or not to use the pre-shave oil and if it would actually help, but I was pleasantly surprised of the outcome! The pre-shave oil honestly does protect your face extremely well while also raising the facial hair to allow for the closest shave I've been able to achieve. Following my first shave, and each one thereafter, both I and my fiance would touch my face and be amazed how smooth it was - as if there was no hair at all!
If you're looking for a close shave, I absolutely suggest including the pre-shave oil in your repertoire as well!

The Art of Shaving company was kind enough to send me a complimentary Art of Shaving Full Size Kits to tackle my face. My beard growth is always pretty rough in texture so I am always ready to try a product that has the potential to make shaving a more satisfying and less "nicking" experience. Can't go around looking like a "Beverly Hillbilly"! [ see what I did there with the title? ;) ]
I thought I would start with the part of The Art of Shaving® Full Size Kit which I felt gave the most unique experience. The other parts of the kit are great but I feel this one might get overlooked, but I think it gave me the best part of my shave.
The Pre-shave oil is labeled as lemon, but it is a very faint scent. When I poured the oil into my hand I was quite surprised how thick it was. It was the consistency of a thick cooking oil. Once I started to put it on my beard I could tell that, to steal a phrase, a 'lil dab will do ya! Just a little bit for each side will adequately coat a normal beard growth...maybe more if you have gone all Grizzly Adams! I could tell that this would really make a difference with my shave right away and that it would really help my blade glide across my face and not catch on any dry hair. Also to note that this oil really helps with the next step applying the cream with the brush. It seems to add to the texture of the cream as well as the ability of the brush to apply the cream. When I was actually shaving I was correct in my assumption that my blade action would be smooooooth! My only suggestion, not really a complaint, is that I would definitely try to use one of those razors that have the 4 or 5 blades in it. I say this because the consistency of the cream mixed with the pre-shave oil will clog up the space between the blades pretty quickly. I would say this is another reason to try to only use just enough oil and cream. The first time I used this kit I did use a 5 blade razor and the second time I used just a 2 blade. I had to constantly rinse out the 2 blade as well as drag it across a wash cloth to get the mixture out so that the blades could do their job. When I used the 5 blade it was not as much of a chore to wash away the mixture.
I would definitely say that not only was the Pre-Shave Oil an essential part of the kit, but that I would also consider buying just the oil if I could only get an individual part of this kit.
