I really like using the pre-shave oil. It is a nice part of the overall process of shaving. The scent is light which is good as it is not overpowering which would really be bad but it is hardly noticeable which I tend to prefer.
A secret that should be brought to light a little more often! I feel like when i shave after applying this the hair doesnt pull as much and cuts coeaner as it softens the hair… MEN, listen up! This is your hest friend shaving!
I have enjoyed Art of Shaving products for nearly 25 years. (Prior to P&G’s acquisition of AoS)
Best preshave oil period
Been using products for 15 yrs or so. Just wish had lemon scented.
The unscented oil definitely has a scent. Kind of a natural, piney scent. Works really nicely, though. Would be nice if it had a dropper.
I brought this product , great product to use I brought this product , great product to use I brought this product , great product to use I brought this product , great product to use
Razor burn, nicks, cuts, dryness, redness and irritation. We’ve been there, and we wanted better. Our mission: bring men a shaving experience they enjoy, not endure.
Have used it for years. Wonderful results- wouldn’t think of ever shaving without it.
Shaving products are great. You have so many scents to choose from. Green, gold, Fougere, amber, mahogany, glacier, barbershop that smells like cookies, barbershop blue, baker street, Stetson, old spice, Williams mug soap, almond of the Italian soap, cedar wood, green tobacco, sandalwood, there’s days when I even like unscented. My grandfather would have preferred a few notes of gun powder, gasoline, campfire and deer musk. There’s price points of several hundred dollars to $1-5 soap. Soap of shea butter, glycerin, aloe Vera, cocoa butter to fancy designer moisturizers to cologne scents. It works with your aftershaves of all prices, alcohol and balms. _x000D_
The preshave oil I like can be used with all scents. Today the shave is Italian Barber Blue with the sandalwood preshave oil. I like the old alcohol aftershaves and they have their own oils for postshave feel. The preshave oil from TAOS is great with one pump. It is not too thick and not too thin. It gives a neck shave that is close, comfortable and smooth without razor burn. Oil definitely improves the shaving performance. Get the unscented if you want to mix scents though.
The oil is useful for head shaves. Reduces cuts and supposedly increases razor glide. Reason enough to buy is the post shave feel. Feels light and moisturized, also protected during the shave.
Product works well. Nice oil that helps razor glide across face. 4/5 stars because oil is slightly thicker than ideal, little more viscosity would help.
I had been using the small bottle, decided to try the pump. Better and easier to get the oil in the right amount
I really like the larger size oil especially since the pump is easier to use. Wish they had other scents.
I had run out of pre-shave oil months ago and just kept forgetting to order more. I had 2 of the smaller bottles and they lasted a long time. Finally last month I remembered to buy more oil and I saw the oil in the Large Pump. _x000D_
2 things - 1) the pump makes this so much easier to use and you don't need very much_x000D_
2) after NOT using oil for about 5 months, after the first shave using the oil again, I wondered why I had gone so long without it._x000D_
When you rub it on your face, you really don't feel anything, but as soon as you start shaving you notice a subtle difference. Sounds silly, but it is like magic._x000D_
After shaving, I had no redness or that feeling that I might have just shaved off a layer of skin. The difference between using the pre shave oil and not using it is subtle but a noticeable, positive difference.
I bought this for my 22 year old grandson who doesn’t usually like skin care products enough to compliment them but he said this really made his skin now have no irritation from shaving and improved its appearance. He loved it!
If used this product before I ran out I tried to look for other things but nothing comes close to this
I have been using your products for a few years now and I couldn’t be happier. I love the feel, the fragrance, the results with every product.
I have been using Art of Shaving for over 20 years and enjoy the products. I just bought a new heated Razor and it is terrific. Nice smooth shave and very comfortable. Highly recommend. In fact bought one as a gift for a friend's birthday.
Fantastic way to get oil. No more accidental over pours.
My wife got me hooked on this for Christmas one year. I NEVER used a pre shave oil ! Now I cannot shave without it. This pre shave oil makes ALL of the difference. No razor burn - ever. Always smooth shave and your skin feels great.
I really enjoy using the pump at my station, but the price went up $10.00,
I love the pre shave oil that small 2oz bottle just doesnt cut it plus trying to get a good amount and making sure your not wasting or spill it is hard so having a squirt top truly brilliant. thanks art of shaving for making something that is just what we all needed.
You finally increased the size of the pre-shave oil. I will enjoy not having to order or buy as often. I calculate a $25 volume discount. I will keep the 2 oz bottle available to travel refills._x000D_

Thanks for listening to the customers!
It softens the beard and prepares the skin for a close and comfortable shave without leaving an oily residue.
Great result in first shave.
On my quest to break away from expensive cartridges. I found wet shaving. Bought starter kit from the big box store and set off. I have a thick course beard and very sensitive skin. Can we say razor burn. Wet shaving helped relieve some of the discomfort but still had some remaining shave bumps and redness. While in The Art of Shaving store one day, I started talking with an awesome consultant. long story short she recommended I try the shave oil. Two bottles later I am still free from the pesky burn. Love the smell, went back got the shaving cream and lotion too. Still dabble with other soaps and aftershaves(when I want to feel a little burn). However the shave oil is a constant, no matter what I lather up and splash on.
I really enjoyed using the Sandalwood pre-shave oil. The scent was great, and it really did seem to help soften my beard for shaving. Normally I would need to take a hot shower first to get this effect.
I had never used a pre-shave treatment before so I wasn't really sure what to expect. I think the oil heeled soften the hair on my face and gave me a smoother shave. Adding it as part of the process certainly made the entire thing feel more official.
The first thing you need to know about this oil is that it is not slippery like baby oil or vegetable oil (NOTE do not shave with vegetable oil) and is rather sticky and kind of molasses like (don't shave with molasses either). That was something that scared me at first when I was testing this out in the kit that The Art of Shaving gave to me.
However after rubbing the oil on both my face and razor, I noticed how smooth the shave was and how it allowed me to avoid getting the blade stuck at times. This is something that all shavers (including YOU) should be using on a regular basis.
The pre shave lotion is great. I have zero razor burn. This needs to be a part of your shaving ritual!
Okay, so although I came into this package from The Art of Shaving as a trialist, I also seemingly came in a newbie. I thought I knew it all:
Wet Face
Apply Shaving Foam
Shave
After Shave
I WAS WRONG.
Buy this Pre-Shave oil, it was a great introduction to how to shave. It made my beard softer for shaving, I noticed that it required very little to actually have a huge effect on my beard. I will be using this from now on before I shave.
